Estimados socios:
Comprendemos la frustración de algunos socios y nos disculpamos por el cierre de los nueve primeros hoyos durante las últimas semanas. Desafortunadamente no nos quedaba otra opción. Entre tanto esperamos deseosos la apertura de los 18 hoyos a mediados de octubre.
MOTIVOS:
En resumen, los problemas surgidos en el rough y en algunas calles han sido causados por la deficiente esterilización realizada antes de la reforma de los nueve primeros hoyos y la tardía finalización de los trabajos por parte del contratista, que provocó no llegar a tiempo a sembrar Bermuda en su mejor periodo de crecimiento.
A finales de Agosto, nuevamente nos asesoramos, a través de nuestros ingenieros agrónomos y de manos de la futura dirección de obra, de cómo atajar estos problemas y de cómo evitarlos en el futuro. Os recomendamos que lean el informe adjunto.
En el rough ahora se ha procedido a la eliminación de todas las malas hierbas y se ha sembrado Festuca Arundinacea. Nuestros ingenieros agrónomos nos han aconsejado esta variedad cespitosa como mejor opción disponible por adaptarse mejor a nuestro clima, condiciones de agua y suelos arcillosos.
INFORME:
Todas las recomendaciones han sido puestas en práctica y esperamos reabrir los 18 hoyos aproximadamente a mediados de octubre. Nuestro Director de Campo nos ha aconsejado considerar todo el rough como “terreno en reparación” durante las cuatro primeras semanas, esto permitirá generar mayor densidad y dar una mejor cobertura a nuestros roughs.
La fecha de comienzo de la reforma de los nueve segundos ha cambiado a septiembre de 2014, en línea con las recomendaciones del informe recibido. Durante la reforma de los nueve segundos hoyos y dados los trabajos que se están realizando actualmente, los nueve primeros hoyos podrán soportar el trafico de jugadores y las altas temperaturas.
De nuevo, queremos pedir disculpas a todos los socios por las molestias ocasionadas y agradecerles la paciencia y comprensión que están mostrando.

Report from the Greens Committee – October 2013
Dear Members,
We do appreciate the frustration that you are experiencing, and regret the closure of the front nine holes for the past few weeks. Unfortunately, we had no other choice. We now look forward to having a full 18-holes to play from mid-October.
REASON:
In brief, the problems we faced with the rough and some fairways were caused by the unsuccessful - but recommended - sterilization of bad grasses prior to commencement of the front nine refurbishment, as well as the late completion of works by the contractor which resulted in missing the full growing season for the Bermuda grass.
At the end of August, we again asked our agronomist advisors and project managers for further advice on how to deal with these problems and how to avoid them in the future. We urge you to read the attached Report for further details.
The rough has now been cleared of all bad grasses and seeded with Tall Fescue. We have been advised by our agronomist advisors that this is the best cool season species available and more tolerant to our climate, water and soil conditions.
REPORT:
All recommendations have now been implemented, and we look forward to opening the full eighteen holes from mid-October. Our Course Manager has advised that, during the first 4 weeks, all rough on the front nine holes should be considered “Ground Under Repair”, which will allow the new grass to fill out and give a good ground cover.
The commencement of the back nine refurbishment has now been changed to September 2014 in line with the advisors’ recommendations. Whilst the back nine refurbishment is underway, the front nine, with the works being carried out at present, will withstand Member traffic and will be more able to cope with our climate.
