Recebos - Topdressing

The following week, the 30th of June and 1st of July, all the greens will be lightly topdressed, and the tees and collars of the front nine as well.
Topdressing is an important cultural practice to reduce the thatch that naturally develops in our golf courses and lawns. An excessive thatch layer results in spongy greens, scalping problems when mowing, increase of disease and pest pressure, many stress susceptibility, bad drainage... Our mainenance filosofy tries to topdress light and frequent to affect players the least.

We apologize for the inconvenience

Un día sin segar greenes - One day not mowing greens

Salinity problems start showing in the back nine greens. As irrigations season takes place, salt accumulation starts to develop on the greens. The old greens with a lot of poa annua are the first to show symptoms since this species is very susceptible to salty conditions.
Flushing the greens is the best way to approach this problem after Calcium application to the soil. It is also important reducing other stresses and that is why this wednesday greens are not been mowed.
Once the old greens are rebuilt, the lack of poa contamination and the use of a adequate sand profile will minimize these problems, as one can see in the new greens in the front nine.
