INFORME DEL COMITÉ DE CAMPO:
Estimados socios:
A finales de septiembre, si el tiempo lo permite, vamos a proceder al
resembrado de las calles de los primeros 9 hoyos con Poa Trivialis, y con
Festuca Arundinacea en el rough. La calle del 3, al tener una superficie de
bermuda nueva y saneada de malas hierbas [se plantaron tepes nuevos y se añadió
una capa de arena considerable (5cm) justo antes del verano], no la vamos a
resembrar para ver como se mantiene durante el invierno.
También la calle del hoyo 2 se ha nivelado con una buen capa de arena
y se ha trasplantado la bermuda de las calles 12, 13 y 14 justo antes de
iniciar los trabajos en dichos hoyos.
Nos hubiera gustado proceder de la misma forma con respecto a la calle
del 1 aunque por problemas de calendario no ha podido ser.
Como ya hemos explicado en anteriores comunicados, la Festuca
Arundinacea, es la hierba de invierno más tolerante a las altas temperaturas
del verano. Este verano se ha ido manteniendo bastante bien, a pesar de ir
perdiendo densidad en algunas zonas, dada la mala calidad del agua (mucha
salinidad) y al terreno arcilloso de muchas zonas. De todas formas nuestro
objetivo es convertir todo el campo de Bermuda; tal y como era en sus orígenes.
La reforma de los hoyos 10 al 18 se llevará a cabo con Bermuda de
pared a pared.
Para implementar el mismo procedimiento en la 1 vuelta deberemos
proceder a la conversión de la Festuca actual en los roughs a Bermuda,
incluyendo una considerable base de arena para conseguir un optimo enraizamiento
de la bermuda.
Les recordamos que durante la reforma de los hoyos 1 al 9 tan sólo se
invirtió en: GREENES, ANTE GREENES, TEES, BÚNKERS, RIEGO AUTOMÁTICO Y DRENAJES,
consiguiendo la alta calidad esperada, lo que ha llevado a que se hayan activado
casi 50 nuevos socios en lo que llevamos de año.
No se realizaron mejoras ni en calles ni en
rough y poco a poco estamos trabajando para mejorar dichas zonas
procurando que los socios no se vean afectados en la medida de lo
posible.

Dear Members,
The overseeding of the front nine is
anticipated towards the end of September: overseeding fairways with Poa
Trivialis; and roughs with Tall Fescue. This will be all completed except for
the fairway to hole 3, which has a recently installed brand new Bermuda fairway
and a 5cm sand-cap, to experiment how it behaves this winter.
Taking advantage of the closure for
refurbishment of the back nine, we have transplanted the good Bermuda from
holes 12, 13 and 14 to level and sod the second fairway. It would have been nice to also do the first
fairway, but we will not have the time to carry out the transplanting due to
the closure date required for the back nine.
As we have already informed in many
of our reports, Tall Fescue, is the most tolerant “cool season grass” for the
summer and its high temperatures. Its kept in good shape during this summer,
even though it was losing density in some areas due to the poor quality of the
water (high salinity levels) in our clay soils.
Anyway, ultimately, our main
objective is to convert the course wall-to-wall to Bermuda grass; as it was in
its origins. The refurbishment of holes 10 to 18 will be completed as
mentioned, with wall-to-wall Bermuda grass.
To implement the conversion of Tall
fescue roughs to Bermuda grass on holes 1 to 9, we will need to sand-cap these
areas to convert and to achieve an optimum root system.
We would like to remind you that
during the refurbishment of the front nine holes, we only invested in new
GREENS, FOREGREENS, TEES, BUNKERS, IRRIGATION SYSTEM and DRAINAGE; all of these
items are in excellent condition, and, in our opinion, they have attracted the almost
50 new Members from which the Club is benefiting this year.
It is important to remember we never
did works to have new fairways and rough on the front nine and that we are
working to improve these areas, while trying to disturb Members as little as
possible.
